Most standard fax cover sheet have the words FAX on the top, including your information and the purpose for the fax.  In all a fax cover sheet is very easy to create.

I then did some searches online about fax services.  I knew that there was faxing from the internet companies available for me, I just did not know the cost of the service.  I was shocked when I found that I could receive a free fax line from EFax.  It would be from the area code not associated with me, but I really did not care.  I was also limited to the amount of faxes that I could receive, but once again, I did not do many faxes each month.

I decided to pay for the fax service which at the time was a little over $10 a month.  I was happy that I could choose a local area code, and could complete outbound faxes from the internet if needed.  I could also, select the type of file type my fax would be saved as.  I choose pdf so that I could easily share that document with other computers or people if need be.

I also liked the fact that I was now somewhat a virtual office.  I did not need to be tied to my fax machine or to my office location.  If I was on vacation, I could bring my laptop and receive and send any faxes that I may need.  Personal or business related for that matter.

I found that efax had a pretty quick turnaround for the receiving of faxes over the internet as well.

I tested and found that within minutes I would receive the document that was sent to me, via email notification.

EFax is a great service as I am sure that many other online fax services are as well.  Just the concept of faxing from the internet is growing by leaps and bounds.

There are many benefits to faxing online.

1. Storage of your faxes - It is easy to file your faxes on your hard drive
2. Your faxes are always with you as long as you are by your computer.
3. You cut out the printer middle man.
4. It is just plain less expensive.  Think about the cost of the fax machine, paper, toner, and dedicated phone line for the fax machine?  It just makes sense.

There are some benefits to paying a small fee for your fax services.  Many of the free fax services put their advertisements on the cover sheet.  With a paid fax service, there are no ads on your fax cover sheet.  There is simply a fax!

This fax cover sheetis very simple layout.  There is not much black areas on the Fax Cover Sheet, so it will not use up too much of the reciprients toner when they are printing it out.  Remember most people do not have a color fax machine, so color images are bascially useless.  Keep everything black and white and you won’t have a problem.

When modifying the fax cover sheet make sure that you save your changes so that you don’t have to reinput it over and over again.  I know that sounds like common sense, but not everything is obvious to everyone.

I don’t know about you but I am basically virtual. My office and business are virtual as well. I have three brick and mortar offices however I don’t have three dedicated fax lines and fax machines at all offices. I also don’t have the time to worry that an incoming fax that I am waiting for is coming to office 1 when I am at office 3 or home. With online fax services, my fax is where ever my computer is. I receive the fax via their service and then usually into email. This way I can electronically file all of my documents.

There are a few things that you will want to make sure of before choosing an online fax service.

1. What format does the fax come in? PDF? PDF for me is most preferable. I have used eFax and they have allowed the PDF format.
2. Does incoming faxes come into your email as attachments or do you have to log into their service to retrieve the fax?
3. What is the cost for outgoing faxes?
4. How many pages do they limit you to?
5. How quickly do the faxes get delivered?

These are some of the questions I have to ask when choosing the right online fax service.  I have found that there are many free online fax services as well.

Many of the online fax services have a free service or at least a free trial.  You will definately have to see which service fits your needs the best, however the question of using online fax services, I think is a no brainer.

The only issue with online fax services, is if you have to sign documents or hand fill documents.   Documents then need to be rescanned and then faxed.  I have figured for the amount of times I need to do this, it is still worth the slight aggrevation.  I can still electronically file all of my documents, and it still beats having to pay for three dedicated phone lines, and buy three fax machines.  Then include the amount of money on gas and just the time spent, driving to the office to either send or receive a fax.

The second and most over looked aspect of the business fax cover sheet is for marketing.  Every time you have the chance to market your products or business you should.  A business fax cover sheet is a perfect and cost effective mechanism in order to receive some free advertising and upsell opportunities.

Maybe a current promotion, or a sample of your work. It doesn’t cost anything to promote your business or include an upsell on a fax cover sheet. Actually it is just good business tactics.

You do want to keep the Printable Fax Cover Sheet simple and preferably black and white. Most fax machines do not use color. Black and White is the safest way to go.
